THE PROJECT
The Race Against Hunger is an international project
WHAT IS IT?
The Race Against Hunger is an international, educational, solidarity and sporting project that allows schools to promote values such as equality, dignity, respect and commitment among students, while also encouraging healthy habits through nutrition and sport.
We are the first generation capable of ending world hunger, and we have a dual commitment: to improve the lives of millions of people suffering from malnutrition and to build a more responsible society.
The project is aimed at all types of schools, and consists of two phases:
- Educational awareness, in which we offer workshops tailored to the skills covered by each educational stage.
- The race or sporting challenge, which can be carried out at any time during the academic year, easily and at no cost to the school.
REGISTRATION
Register your school and get as many years as possible involved.
PUBLICISE YOUR CHALLENGE ON LINE
Once registered, you can create your own online challenge and share it with the education community so that we can help more people: go to www.elretocontraelhambre.org or contact our team if you want to do this.
AWARENESS-RAISING
Download the awareness-raising materials and distribute them to the teaching staff for use in the classroom. The teaching materials are available in Spanish, Catalan, Basque, English and French.
Awareness-raising materials tailored to the different educational cycles enable pupils to:
- Break down prejudices about hunger and poverty.
- Learn how humanitarian crises can affect people in vulnerable situations.
- Understand the importance of humanitarian work.
- Empathise with other realities and discover how they can help improve other people's lives through their own.
- Strengthen values such as commitment and solidarity.
- Address the sustainable development goals: zero hunger, climate action...
- Strength the learning of the skills needed for the new Education Act.
RECEPTION OF MATERIALS
If you are going to take part in a race or a sporting challenge, we can send your school a kit of materials (bibs, banner, tape and posters) free of charge.
SEARCH FOR SPONSORS
After the awareness-raising session, give your students the solidarity passports that we will provide you with so that they can look for sponsors for their race. This encourages all students to become agents of awareness, telling those around them everything they have learnt in order to get as much help as possible.
THE RACE AGAINST HUNGER
Each school will organise its own race or sporting challenge on a day of its choice during the school year. It's time to use all our energy to end world hunger!
COLLECTING DONATIONS
After the race or solidarity challenge, it’s time to collect the efforts of all the students. There are different ways to do this, choose here the one that best suits your school.
THANK YOU!
You will receive special recognition and specific information about our intervention actions and the destination of the funds, thanking the whole centre and people like you for involving so many people in the cause.
HEALTHY LIFESTYLES, SPORT, NUTRITION AND VALUES
We promote a spirit of solidarity among young people and encourage healthy habits through nutrition and sport.
We promote values such as equality, justice, dignity, freedom, integrity, professionalism and respect for human rights.
The Race Against Hunger aims to build a society more committed to social causes and is a personal challenge for the students who will be the next generation of young people capable of ending hunger. They will be the ones to ensure the sustainability, social, environmental and economic development of the world.
Personal ambition, the desire to improve and the culture of continuous improvement are qualities that form part of our nature and of this project.
